Dammam, the largest city in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is the center of the 3rd largest metropolitan area in the country, home to some 4.1 million people. It’s located on the Eastern coast of the Persian Gulf, near the island of Bahrain and across a strait from peninsular Qatar. King Abdul Aziz Sea Port in Dammam is the largest port on the Persian Gulf, making Dammam one of the most important port cities in the country, and indeed, the entire region. And Dammam has another superlative in the world of transport: It’s new airport, the King Fahd International, is the largest in the world when it comes to land area.
It’s a good thing that Dammam’s airport is so big, because soon, the city will be, too. Dammam is the fastest growing city in Saudi Arabia. In fact, it’s the fastest growing city in the entire Arab world, with an astounding annual population growth of 12%. The city has been benefitting from a program encouraging the establishment of non-oil related industry in the area, which, coupled with a mature and well established energy sector, has given the city organic avenues for business development unseen in most places.
With all this growth and all this development comes a need for ample and quality construction services. New buildings and facilities are going up every day, and the construction field is certainly a competitive one in a city with so much work to be done. Among the leading firms helping to build Dammam into one of the world’s major cities is AL KALTHOMI General Contracting (KGC), of the Al-Kalthomi Group. KGC was established in 2003 and has since completed large-scale projects for major clients such as Aramco, SECO, Sabic, and more. © 2015 D. Vega / Jav Zamora
Clients come to KGC for its proven track-record of completing projects on time, on budget, and with the highest quality. It’s association with its sister company, AL KALTHOMI Environmental Works (KEW), ensures that its projects are completed with the utmost attention paid to environmental protection and sustainability. Efficiency, cleanliness, and precision are the tenets by which KGC builds the large-scale industrial facilities that it is known for. But that’s not all the company does. It also has completed work in various civil engineering fields, such as residential construction, earth moving, road work, building maintenance, and much, much more.
What helps KGC do such amazing work is its dedication to the principles of quality management. Contracting is very competitive work. With each project comes a process of bidding and direct comparison with other firms. KGC wins bids because its staff is highly trained and experienced, its workplaces are safe, and its workers are given the best safety equipment available. Every thing that KGC does, from the tightening of the smallest bolt to the procurement of the pieces of the biggest project, is done with care and ultimate attention to detail.
Saudi Arabia is a country on the move, and Dammam stands to become a major part of the Kingdom’s future. It is companies like AL KALTHOMI General Contracting that will build the backbone of a sustainable economic future in Dammam.
