Angola tradition as a coffee producer is long and well established. The country has a more than deserve reputation as one of the finest coffee producers in the world, with a trademark variety called Robusta which is famed for being strong in flavor yet neutral in acidity, becoming one of the most sought after coffees in the world.
Unfortunately a long and cruel civil war ravaged the country for more than 27 years, and with it, the coffee farms and the entire coffee industry where almost totally destroyed. Yet, in the last decade, Angola’s coffee production has been steadily increasing and the quality of the grains has been consistently improving. Partly because of the cooperative efforts of the International Coffee Organization and the angolan government, but mostly because of the determination and even obstinate resolve of the angolan farmers, committed to save their farms even in the midst of a civil war.
One of the families that was determined to protect the quality of its coffee grains, was the Triases family. The Triases family holds a tradition in growing coffee that goes back to when Angola was still a Portuguese Colony. Its forefathers endured tremendous sacrifices that contributed to making Angola one of the top exporters of coffee in the world in the decade of the 70.
Following this path of excellence, and understanding that quality comes through commitment, the Triases Ltd. was created in 2010 to empower this family-owned coffee plantation.
Belonging to the Triases Ltd. and being part of the tradition established by the Triases family, the commercial brand Café Cazengo has become one of the most successful coffee brands both in Angola and at an international level.

The Triases Ltd. specializes in the growth of the angolan Robusta coffee bean variety. The Robusta variety - Coffea canephora - it's the second most produced coffee bean amounting around 40% of the entire coffee bean production in the world. Its strong silky flavour is perfect for espresso coffee as well as a filler in many of the more elaborated coffee blends. And even when the Arabica coffee beans are widely considered to be superior both in taste and in the texture, the angolan Robusta has earned a reputation of being perhaps one of the best coffee beans in the world, rivaling with Colombian Arabica and Venezuelan own Robusta “Maracaibo” variety from the Caribbean.
This magnificent bean is strengthened in its quality by the commitment of the angolan farmers, who retain the traditional artisan way of cultivating the coffee, guaranteeing the purity of the seeds, the lack of toxic chemical components, and the excellence in flavor that provides the traditional sun roasting process. Café Cazengo’s coffee is organically grown close to river beds. The plants absorb the nutrients from nature & produce beautiful coffee cherries. Angola’s moderate climate, with an average of 20ºC (68ºF) all year round, helps produce the perfect coffee bean.
For being an example of determination against all odds, for reactivating a vital sector for the Angolan population, for creating job opportunities on a country that is on his way of recovering from a grueling civil war, and for committing themselves to quality and excellence introducing improvements, but preserving at the same time the value of tradition, Business Initiative Directions has decided to award Triases Ltd. with the BID International Quality Award 2016, in recognition to its unquestionable commitment to quality and excellence.
