ING Invests in the Quality of Humanity’s Collective Future

The Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D.) award winning global financial institution and its employees have donated over $13 million USD and volunteered thousands of hours to ING Chances for Children

For this reason the group has partnered with UNICEF to form ING Chances for Children, which provides children with the opportunity to learn and build a solid foundation for a brighter future by supporting projects geared towards education. On one hand it focuses on children in different countries that live in the most disadvantaged circumstances, and on the other hand it supports children nearby in the areas where its employees live and work, which improves the quality of life and fosters goodwill in both developed and developing communities.

ING employees are the driving force behind the campaign, having donated millions of dollars, which the corporation matches dollar for dollar, and thousands of volunteer hours towards UNICEF adopted projects and the many local ING Chances for Children initiatives. Since its inception in 2005, ING and its employees have raised over 13 million USD towards the goal of helping one million children gain access to primary education by 2015. They have made significant headway in Ethiopia, especially in rural areas inhabited by nomadic tribes by providing them with ‘portable schools’ and an adjusted form of education. In India, projects are aimed to end the cycle of poverty and illiteracy by offering quality education to children working for minimal wages at jobs that require little to no skill as well as children who are out of school and therefore vulnerable to becoming child laborers. Employees of ING Thailand have been contributing monthly to UNICEF and actively supporting homes for handicapped children.

ING serves as an example to the rest of the business community of using leadership and human capital to make a positive difference in the world. For this reason ING group has been honored by B.I.D. with the Star for Quality.
