One of modernity’s biggest challenges is keeping cities and infrastructure clean and sanitary. It may seem simple, but with the increase in population density, and the rise of the modern mega city (like Mexico City or Beijing), coping with the waste produced by millions of humans concentrated in a small area is becoming a herculean feat.

To illustrate the magnitude behind the modern waste disposal problem, New York City’s eight million inhabitants produce a median of 36,200 tons of garbage every day. That’s the equivalent in weight to about 100 fully-loaded Airbus A380 planes produced in trash every 24 hours.

And less-populated cities don’t exactly fall behind in creating waste. Even the smallest towns can produce a staggering amount of garbage. For these reasons, effectively controlling the waste disposal process is vital to maintaining our current notion of urban society. It is a much-needed service, and the urgency inherent in this activity is crystal clear to the Sabzzivar Company, an urban waste disposal company headquartered in Tehran and currently performing the waste disposal process in several districts and cities in Iran.

This prestigious company started working exclusively for the government of Tehran as an urban services contractor in 1993, taking charge of district Number 5, and later expanding out towards the Tehran Municipal Area Number 3, which was one of the most critical and complex districts of the Iranian capital during the 90’s.

In 2006, Sabzzivar Company started to work as the first private contractor in the No.1 area of the Qom Holy City, a role that it continues in to this day. Recently, this cooperation has expanded to encompass three areas of the city. Sabzzivar has also begun activities in the cities of Yazd, Meshkin Dasht, and Mahdasht, and the company still works in the city of Rasht, where it began many years ago as an urban services provider.

A team committed to work and using the perfect tools

Sabzzivar currently maintains a complete fleet of service vehicles that includes: compressors, cross-washers, garbage presses, semi-trailers, sweepers, tank washers, and even apparatus removers.

This high quality equipment would mean nothing if not properly operated by a team of highly trained professionals. More than 4400 people comprise the bulk of Sabzzivar’s crew of workers, foremen, supervisors, drivers, and administrative staff. This team, with their knowledge and their equipment, create a Total Quality garbage disposal service that serves 34 million square meters of public spaces.

For their dedication to keeping cities clean and secure, for their compliance with the highest regulations, and for their proven efficiency as one of the leading companies of the Iranian service sector, Business Initiative Directions wishes to grant the BID Quality Award to Sabzzivar Company in recognition of their commitment to Total Quality Culture and excellence.
